Kiddieland Park @ Kleypas Park
Kleypas Park, originally called Kiddieland Park, opened in 1965. The park was renamed for Leander “Lee” Kleypas, a MPR volunteer and community organizer in 2000. By 2018, residents were calling for upgrades and improvements, including accessibility for special-needs children. The MPR-EDC Board of Directors, under the leadership of Tom Edwards, took on the project. Thanks to the help of many MPR residents & State Rep. Hugh Shine (R-Temple), Morgan’s Point Resort received a $170,600 grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission. The MPR-EDC supplied upwards of $100,000 and the city of Morgan’s Point Resort provided $70,600 in labor.
