Kiddieland Park @ Kleypas Park

Kleypas Park, originally called Kiddieland Park, opened in 1965. The park was renamed in 2000 for Leander “Lee” Kleypas, a long‑time MPR volunteer and community organizer.

By 2018, residents were calling for upgrades and improvements, including accessibility for special‑needs children. The MPR‑EDC Board of Directors, under the leadership of Tom Edwards, took on the project.

Thanks to the help of many MPR residents and State Rep. Hugh Shine (R‑Temple), Morgan’s Point Resort received a $170,600 grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission. The MPR‑EDC contributed upwards of $100,000, and the City of Morgan’s Point Resort provided $70,600 in labor.
