The park was renamed in 2000 for Leander \u201cLee\u201d Kleypas, a long\u2011time MPR volunteer and community organizer.<\/p>\n<p>By 2018, residents were calling for upgrades and improvements, including accessibility for special\u2011needs children. The MPR\u2011EDC Board of Directors, under the leadership of Tom Edwards, took on the project.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the help of many MPR residents and State Rep. Hugh Shine (R\u2011Temple), Morgan\u2019s Point Resort received a $170,600 grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission.
